Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced his government’s decision to acquire the Metropole Hotel land and transform into a modern park for the children and the elderly, according to news sources. According to the CM, the park will be developed on the spot previously identified for the construction of a high-rise project.
He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held on Wednesday. Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah, Planning and Development Chairperson Nahid Shah, the CM’s advisor, and other officials concerned were all present at the occasion.

CM Murad is also expected to acquire a portion of the Sindh Club on the side to widen the left turning of the road from the Metropole Hotel towards Clifton to facilitate the traffic flow. For this purpose, he has directed city commissioners to finalise necessary arrangements with the hotel and club management and present a report within 10 days.
He said that the Metropole Hotel was located on a heavily frequented road, and the construction of a high-rise would create traffic and environmental problems. The government plans to construct a park to prevent these pressing concerns, he added.
