Karachi: The Government of Sindh and Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) have agreed to form a committee that will conduct a survey in the city to identify illegal construction activities and share its report with the concerned departments, according to a news source. The decision was taken during a meeting held between Sindh Local Government Secretary Roshan Sheikh and ABAD Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani.

The two also agreed that in order to clean Karachi, all members of ABAD will ensure to not clutter roads with construction material at or near construction sites. This is meant to reduce air and visual pollution in Karachi as well as to ensure smooth traffic flow.

The committee, which will comprise Sindh Building Control Authority officials and members from local government bodies can grant approval to real estate projects and buildings. The committee will conduct regular surveys to identify illegally construction activities in the city and share its findings with the relevant departments.

Furthermore, the committee will also share its periodical reports with the Sindh government on issues of the real estate sector. This is believed to help fix these issues.
