Karachi: The Sindh Cabinet has decided to give free houses to affectees of three Nullahs in the Malir Development Authority (MDA) area, according to news published in the leading newspaper on May 26.

The Sindh Cabinet meeting, led by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, approved the construction of 6,500 houses on 248 acres of land to resettle the affectees of the nullahs. The estimated cost of this project is PKR 9.42 billion.
During the meeting, the CM highlighted the incumbent government’s commitment to rehabilitating flood and people displaced after encroachment removal. He emphasised the special measures being taken by the government to address poverty and the needs of the affected population.

The decision of Sindh to give free houses to Nullah affectees will address the housing problems of the people displaced by the negative effects of the Nullah. This will help ensure secure and sustainable housing along with socio-economic stability. Moreover, the area will provide livelihood opportunities for the affectees.
