Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, presiding over a key meeting at CM House on Thursday, urged the local government, works, and energy departments to expedite the implementation of Foreign-Assisted Projects (FAPs). He emphasized the need for relevant secretaries to provide bi-weekly progress reports, ensuring increased accountability and oversight across the province.

The meeting focused on Karachi’s transformation and rural development, with the Chief Minister instructing ministers and secretaries to closely monitor projects. He directed that future progress updates be delivered directly by department secretaries, rather than project directors.
A key item on the agenda was the Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (CLICK) initiative, part of a Rs 62.316 billion development plan. The project has already disbursed Rs 24.294 billion, with Rs 14.3 billion utilized. CM Shah directed Local Minister Saeed Ghani to personally oversee its progress and emphasized that only department secretaries should present updates going forward.

Other updates included ongoing and proposed schemes by the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Town Municipal Corporation (TMC), with various infrastructure and capacity-building projects in advanced stages. Additionally, the CM discussed the status of Karachi’s property tax survey, which is nearing completion, and the city’s waste management upgrades, including contracts for new garbage transfer stations and road reconstruction projects.
The Sindh government remains committed to ensuring the timely completion of these key projects, with a focus on addressing Karachi’s infrastructure needs and improving urban management.
