Karachi: The Sindh Interior Ministry issued a new notification on June 11 detailing new timings for cafés, teas houses and restaurants in the province, a news source reported. The ministry also instructed café and restaurant owners to ensure the strict implementation of the Standard operating procedures (SOPs) communicated to control COVID-19 transmission.

As per the official notification, no dine-in services will be offered at any café and restaurant — with all eateries to remain open only for take away and home delivery between 6 AM and 7 PM. From 7 PM to 11 PM, the restaurants can only offer home delivery services.

The notification further states that restaurant owners are to ensure that all applicable SOPs, especially those regarding handling food items and physical distancing between the workers, are to be adhered to strictly. The ministry had earlier issued a notification on April 14 regarding the SOPs to fight the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and restaurant managements have been tasked to not only follow these procedures, but to also ensure the strict implementation of additional SOPs that may be formulated in the future.

In cases of non-compliance, the Sindh government will take strict legal action and impose heavy fines on the restaurant’s management.
