Karachi: Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce & Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that the Sindh Cooperative Housing Act, 2017, will soon be presented before the provincial cabinet for approval, according to news sources. He said that this bill would ensure transparency and the proper implementation of regulations pertaining to the matters of cooperative housing projects.

Minister Dharejo revealed this information while presiding over a recent meeting of the Cooperative Department. The session finalised the draft of the aforementioned act to ensure the prevention of any irregularities in the establishment and maintenance of local cooperative housing societies.

Minister Dharejo lauded the department officials for their efforts vested in the preparation of the Act draft. He said that once approved, this regulation would assist the department in fulfilling its duties in a streamlined manner. Additionally, he stressed on the steps that need to be taken to prevent the non-conforming usages of plots intended for welfare projects; further stating that land grabbers and neglectful officials would be taken to the task (in line with the ministry’s commitment towards safeguarding public assets).
