Karachi: Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh on Thursday pledged his resolve to convert 200 government buildings to sustainable solar energy, news sources reported. The announcement came during his visit to inspect a pilot project at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

The minister was accompanied by the World Bank Country Director Najy Benhassine and was received by the Executive Director JPMC Dr Seemi Jamali.
The JPMC project was funded by the World Bank to meet the growing energy requirements of the hospital. During his visit, the minister for energy also announced the solarisation of eight major hospitals of the city which includes;
- Civil Hospital
- Liaquatabad Hospital
- Orangi Hospital
- Korangi Hospital
- Lyari General Hospital
- Ojha Hospital
- National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD)

Previously, it was reported that the Energy Minister will inaugurate a one-day International Conference on solar energy. The energy conference will be attended by energy regulatory authorities, financing and grant agencies, as well as innovators and technology firms. Energy Update, a Pakistani energy journal that covers the many prospects and problems of Pakistan’s energy security, is organising the said conference.
