Karachi: The North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI) on Sunday requested Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah to curb all land encroachment activities in Karachi’s industrial area, a news source reported.

NKATI President Nasim Akhtar pointed out illegal activities of the local land mafia in the city’s industrial area. He requested the CM and Local Government (LG) Minister Nasir Hussain Shah to take immediate action in this regard.
Akhtar stated that encroachers took advantage of the provincial government’s focus on battling COVID-19. He added that the land mafia had set up encroachments in the North Karachi Industrial Area. He also pointed out the increased number of illegal constructions in the area – including on its main roads.

NKATI members highlighted that due to these encroachments and illegal constructions, production activities were suffering; adding that exporters had to bear losses. They added that warnings issued to the encroachers have gone unnoticed.
NKATI Patron-in-Chief Captain Moiz Khan also requested the Sindh CM and the LG minister to prevent illegal constructions and direct the departments concerned to take immediate action against the encroachers.
