The said precaution will help the government and the citizen to differentiate between the legal and illegal structures. These barcodes can be scanned – through mobile apps – to ascertain the legality of the buildings/structures. Furthermore, Shah also issued directions for the SBCA to issue these barcodes to the old buildings (already approved) and ensure they are ‘displayed at the site’.
The chief minister stated that a large number of illegal buildings have emerged in Karachi against which the ABAD needs to join efforts with the government and launch legal actions against them.

Moreover, the ABAD representatives told the CM that the approvals for some of their projects are still pending from 2011. In response, the CM directed the SBCA to timely review the said projects’ layout plans and approve or discard them – as per the regulations. The CM also directed the senior member for the Board of Revenue (BoR) to address the issue of ‘transfer of title’ in Hawkesbay scheme as per the builders’ request.
