Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has set up district development committees (DDC) to ensure the timely completion of the ongoing development projects, according to news sources.
Accordingly, the pertinent elected representatives of the areas could integrate with the executing agencies while maintaining quality of work and ensuring the timely completion of projects. Murad announced the decision during an assessment meeting of the 347 ongoing development projects worth PKR 17.18 bn, in three districts: Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki.

Reportedly, the CM was informed that out of 120 schemes in Sukkur, 38 current district specific schemes would be completed by the end of the financial year, while 25 other schemes would be finished by the end of the first quarter of the next financial year.
He was further told that 29 schemes in Khairpur, with an appropriation of PKR 2.3 billion, would be completed during the current financial year, while 62 of the district specific schemes amounting to PKR 3.67 billion would be finished by the first quarter of the next financial year.

Moreover, in Ghotki, it was highlighted that 16 schemes, with an allotment of PKR 852.99 million, would be completed by the end of the current financial year. However, the chief minister expressed dismay over the sluggish pace of work on 10 schemes – against which 75% of the funds have been released but the utilisation is 46%.
