Karachi: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Maqbool Baqar has recently chaired a meeting at the CM House, directing the Local Government (LG) department to commence internal development work for a housing scheme in Taiser Town, as claimed by a news article on December 29.

According to the details, this decision was put forth by CM Baqar in a decisive move to address the plight of families affected by Gujjar, Mahmoodabad, and Orangi Nullahs. The meeting, attended by key officials including Local Government Minister Mubin Jumani, Law Minister Omar Soomro, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Dr Fakhre Alam, and others, focused on finalising the development of a township to provide relief to the affected populace.

Secretary Local Government Manzoor Shaikh outlined that a designated area of 137.74 acres has been earmarked at Taiser Town Scheme-45, Sector 16 of Malir Development Authority (MDA) for the 6500 affected individuals from the aforementioned areas. Each affected family is set to receive a plot measuring 80 square yards, and upon possession, the construction cost will also be disbursed by the Sindh government.
