Karachi: Representatives from Hub Power Company (Hubco) briefed Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah that the company can produce 200 megawatts of electricity from the city’s unrecyclable waste, reported a news source. Shah indicated that project is feasible under private-public partnership.
He directed Planning and Development Chairman Muhammad Waseem to prepare detailed suggestions on the project. Waseem was instructed to find out how much waste can be provided for electricity generation on a daily basis. In addition, Shah also ordered to get an estimate on land required for setting up landfill site for the project.
The Planning and Development Department will present its report to Shah after reviewing the options for electricity production from waste and recycling of industrial waste water.
