Karachi: The Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2018-19 has allocated PKR 53 billion for 365 schemes that have been launched, a news source reported. He said that Karachi has been made the top priority in the development regime.
He was presiding a meeting to review the progress of the ongoing development schemes in Karachi. The meeting was also attended by Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Planning and Development (P&D) Chairman Mohammad Waseem, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Jamal Abro, Finance Secretary Najam Shah, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani, Local Government Secretary Khalid Hyder Shah, Local Government Special Secretary Niaz Soomro, and Project Director Khalid Masroor, among others.
The CM said USD 2 billion was needed for Karachi Circular Railway and PKR 850 billion for six Bus Rapid Transit lines. He said that investment would be made in infrastructure and stressed the need for institutional reforms in Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB). He said the World Bank was ready to support the project.
He also said that the Southern Bypass project connecting southern Karachi with Super Highway at Kathore would provide connectivity between the southern and northern areas of Karachi.
