Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed the provincial government’s readiness to welcome Chinese firms interested in investing in key development projects in Karachi, as reported by a news source on October 2.

During a meeting on Tuesday with a delegation led by Belt & Road Group Chairman Wan Xiaowu, the CM invited companies to explore both direct investment opportunities and public-private partnerships with the government.
According to Mr Wan, over 12 leading Chinese firms have shown interest in various initiatives, including waste-to-energy, wastewater treatment, desalination, electric bus manufacturing, and converting petrol motorcycles to electric. They are also keen on rehabilitating Karachi’s sewerage system.

The Sindh government will provide all necessary facilities to support the establishment of these projects. Both parties agreed to hold further discussions with the Sindh Planning & Development Department and the Board of Investment to finalise the details and begin the project selection process.
