Karachi: The Sindh government has clarified that businesses that have been allowed to operate during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown do not need to separately procure an NOC, give an undertaking prior to reopening, or seek further permission from any authority, a news source reported.

Following the issuance of an earlier directive calling for businesses to see through on this formality, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani revoked the condition via an administrative order. His notice further states that businesses, industries, outlets and shops allowed to resume operations are mandated to follow all SOPs issued by the Home Department; with ‘immediate and strict’ action being taken in cases of violation.

On April 15, the Sindh government extended the lockdown till April 30. It also shared details on businesses that could remain open during this period; which include those concerned with agriculture, food, health, and custom operations.
According to the latest reports, business operations in 13 different sectors will be allowed to reopen in various phases – in an attempt to slow the pace of COVID-19 transmissions.
