Karachi: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar on Tuesday directed the province’s residents to refrain from meeting and travelling in groups of four or more without necessary and legitimate cause — with this protocol slated to go into effect from Friday (March 20) onward, according to news sources. As per the publication, the IGP has warned citizens of the accrual of legal consequences in cases of non-compliance in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

These measures have been taken in the aftermath of the significant increase in coronavirus cases in Sindh. The IGP has cautioned people against unnecessary travel for coronavirus prevention. He declared that restricted public movement and social contact can help stop the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

The police chief has expressed gratitude for the sections of the society who have adopted the precautionary guidelines issued by the Singh government against the virus, voluntarily. He suggested the display of responsible behavior by people could be the only way to meet this challenge. He called upon the province’s residents to play their roles in an individual and collective capacity, governed by the government’s guidelines.
