Karachi: The federal institution responsible for executing the Green Line section of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project has not made any formal announcement regarding phase one’s completion – a news source reported.

Sindh Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Syed Awais Qadir Shah expressed his views on the matter. He was responding to the queries of lawmakers with regard to the performance of the provincial transport department.
Last year, the federal government had offered to provide financial assistance with regard to the procurement of buses for the said project. However, no follow-up announcement was made.

The provincial government is awaiting the centre’s response so that it can issue a timeframe to procure Green Line buses. To this effect, it wants the Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited to send a formal letter to the transport department.

With regard to the proposed Red Line section, the minister said that the PC-I of this project has been pending with the Central Development Working Party (CDWP).
