Karachi: Provincial Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput shared that new religious sites are being identified to promote tourism in the region, according to news published on June 27.

The Chief Secretary highlighted that Sindh is home to significant religious sites and efforts are being made to preserve and safeguard these sites. In a meeting held on the Gandhara Civilisation, the chief secretary stated that more locations are being identified to attract visitors from Buddhist-majority countries.
As per the details, Culture Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari briefed that the province boasts 369 cultural sites, including temples and stupas associated with Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, which continue to draw a substantial number of tourists.
The Prime Minister’s Gandhara Task Force Chairman Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, emphasized the preservation of artefacts and heritage sites related to the Gandhara civilization will boost religious tourism within the country. This initiative not only elevates Pakistan’s significance among foreign tourists, particularly Buddhists but also promises economic benefits for the nation.

The task force plans to bring in up to 500,000 tourists through various efforts, including the upcoming international tourism conference scheduled from July 11 to July 13. Collaboration with ambassadors of different countries will further facilitate visits to these religious sites, fostering tourism in the province.
