Karachi: The Sindh Assembly has approved a budget worth PKR 1.21 trillion, a news source reported. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, while moving the budget in the assembly, stated that all expenditures included in it are necessary.

The approved budget, which is also zero-deficit, included a sum of PKR 284 billion for development in the province. The provincial government has prioritised education, health, and law and order in its budgetary allocations for development. In the non-development budget, the Sindh Government has increased the funds for the energy sector from PKR 23.883 billion in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 to PKR 24.920 billion in FY 2019-20. Meanwhile, it has allocated a sum of PKR 40.59 billion for the Karachi Package.

The total budgetary funds for the province stands at an estimated sum of PKR 1.217 trillion against an estimated expenditure of the same amount.
