Lahore: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa on Wednesday stated that significant groundwork had reached completion for launching CPEC phase II, a news source reported.

Bajwa said that the departments concerned had picked up the pace of work on CPEC projects and completed a lot of work for entering the second phase. He added that projects including two hydel power projects, special economic zones (SEZs) ML-1 railway project, and agricultural projects would be complete soon.
Earlier, the CPEC Authority chairman had expressed similar remarks about CPEC projects. He stated that the COVID-19 pandemic had not affected the pace of work.

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Planning & Development Asad Umar said that China had agreed to a bilateral mechanism for resolving issued related to CPEC energy projects. He added that the government had allocated PKR 77 billion for the projects under the initiative.
