Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has quickened the pace of construction work on the Signal Free Corridor Gulberg and is confident that roads will be opened by October 30.
The signal-free corridor, stretching from Liberty Roundabout to Qurtaba Chowk on Ferozepur Road, measures 7.6 kilometres and includes two underpasses situated at Shadman Chowk and Fawara No 1 Chowk T-Junction. Furthermore, Gulberg’s main boulevard is being remodeled while Jail Road is being reconstructed from Sherpao Bridge to Qurtaba Chowk.
The on-going construction work has disturbed traffic flow on the route as the partial closure of roads has made it difficult to get from point A to B. Several educational institutions, including Lahore College for Women University, Kinnaird College for Women, and Home Economics College, are located there.
This corridor is expected to significantly decrease road occupancy time and increase the traffic capacity of Jail Road and Gulberg’s main boulevard.
