Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved a signal-free corridor infrastructure project from Center Point (Gulberg) to Defence (DHA), news sources reported on February 16. Under the project, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will construct a series of underpasses and flyovers to reduce traffic jams.

Reportedly, the signal-free corridor has been formally approved and includes the construction of the following road infrastructure projects:
- Construction of a full-height underpass at Khalid Butt Chowk near Cavalry Ground
- A single-way three-lane flyover at Ghoda Chowk towards Defence Mor
- Construction of a new U-turn at the Center Point
According to LDA sources, the project would cost the government PKR 4.10 billion and will be completed under the Annual Development Programme (ADP). The project’s completion will result in a signal-free corridor for traffic travelling to and from Gulberg, Defence, and Cavalry grounds, saving commute time.

Initially, the corridor will be signal-free from Gulberg to Defence, with a four-lane Dual Carriageway, a two-way underpass at Khalid Butt Chowk and a three-lane single-side flyover from Cavalry Ground to the Defence Morr at Ghoda Chowk. The project also includes a Defence Mor and a Walton Road reconstruction.
