Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi has announced Sutlej Indus Economic Network (SIEN), worth PKR 160 billion – the biggest development project that will connect Sutlej with Sindh, according to news published on December 20.

As per the details, the SIEN has been approved for 7 districts including Okara, Vehari, Lodhran, Kasur, Pakpattan, and Bahawalpur. The districts will be linked with GT roads, motorways, and Indus Highway. CM Elahi spoke at the occasion, stating that this is a new chapter of prosperity and development for investors, traders, industrialists, and farmers.
The news source disclosed that a plan has been formulated to connect different cities with the motorway and will be completed in different phases. In the first phase, the Kasur Bypass to Lahore Ring Road G-1 SIEN Corridor will be completed, at a total cost of PKR 15 billion. The plan also includes connecting 7 remote districts of Punjab with Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2) Lahore-Abdul Hakeem (M-3), Bhattian–Multan (M-4), Multan-Sukkur (M-5) and Lahore-Sialkot (M-11) motorways.
Moreover, the SIEN will improve access to 49% of commodity-producing markets through highways. It was mentioned that the industrial units of agriculture, food, and metal products will also be promoted in the districts along with increasing business activities in the small towns.
Punjab CM Elahi disclosed that the North-South Corridor will connect Depalpur, Pakpattan, Vehari, Head Sulemanki Minchinabad, Multan Road, Bahawalnagar Road, and Bahawalpur. It was mentioned that Changara East Interchange will be connected up to Bahawalpur (N-5). According to the details, Hasilpur will be connected to Rajana Motorway M-3 through Vehari, Chichhwatani, and Burewala. It was shared that the Chishtian to Burewala and Sahiwal to Samundri lunk will be constructed.

Additionally, the chief minister mentioned that Bahawalnagar to Sahiwal will be connected with M-3 Motorway through Arifwala. SIEN Corridor will be constructed from Minchinabad to Sahiwal via Pakpattan. He went on to say that Allahabad will be linked to Jaranwala Interchange M-3 Motorway through Pattoki. Chinian, and Halla. Also, Sharqpur Interchange M-3 Interchange will be connected with Raiwind Road Ring Road.
