Sialkot: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar on Thursday (September 24) revealed that work was underway on the preparation of a master plan for the city, a news source reported. He disclosed this information while speaking to the media; adding that the said initiative would be completed at a cost of PKR 15 billion.

On the occasion, Mr. Dar highlighted various issues facing the city, including problems with the provision of a potable water supply, sanitation, and solid waste disposal. He stated that the provincial government was collaborating with experts from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to come up with projects to address these issues in a sustainable manner. He added that the provincial government was also keen on improving the city’s traffic situation, provide improved recreational facilities, and to establish additional public parks.

Additionally, Dar revealed that the Sialkot Municipal Corporation and the Sialkot Waste Company had started to receive the required machinery and vehicles to perform their tasks adequately.
The development of the master plan is expected to help provide international-standard facilities to the city’s residents. Reportedly, the PKR 57 billion project is being financed by the ADB.
