Sialkot: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal On Tuesday (December 21) announced the establishment of another industrial estate in Sialkot if the present Export Processing Zone (EPZ) is fully colonised and reaches maximum capacity, news sources reported. Minister Aslam made these remarks during a meeting held to review the zone’s progress. He also announced the creation of an EPZ board to oversee and expand infrastructure.

According to sources, the minister stated that the government is dedicated to providing support for the complete colonisation of EPZ plots. He also advised industrialists to begin construction on the vacant plots by paying their dues or risk having their allocations revoked. As per the meeting, the EPZ has a total of 881 plots, of which 121 have been colonised, 436 are under construction, and 300 have been terminated owing to non-commencement of development.

The meeting was further told that the government will take steps for the resolution of outstanding issues related to the provision of facilities and ease of setting up new industrial units.
