Rawalpindi: Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan has announced the launch of an air-conditioned and affordable shuttle service from Rawalpindi to Islamabad International Airport (IIA), news sources reported. The said shuttle service will be operational in two months with the work starting on the project. The buses will be operated 24 hours but the fares are yet to be decided.

Reportedly, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) will make the required arrangements and fund the shuttle service, which would run from Rawat and Gulzar-e -Quaid to Islamabad International Airport (IIA). In addition to the government-owned and operated buses, two commercial bus companies have expressed interest in operating their buses along the proposed routes.

According to the route specifications, the shuttle service would start from Rawat and go through Sawan Camp, Kutcheri, Mall Road, and Peshawar Road, while the second route will depart from Gulzar Chowk and travel through Chaklala Aiport (Old Benazir Airport). Passengers from Islamabad will board a bus from the Secretariat that will take them directly to the IIA.
