In response, the traders and shopkeepers reassured the authorities concerned that they would adhere to the SOPs strictly. These individuals were later allowed to resume their business activity. The government further asked shop owners to ensure that their employees and buyers use hand sanitizers, maintain social distancing and wear safety masks inside the shops.
Moreover, the shopkeepers were directed to bar the children and elderly from entering these cramped markets. On the same day, a similar operation was executed in Karachi market. In the view of approaching Eid-ul-Fitr, the market activities in various cities have peaked, which has increased the risk of novel coronavirus spread in the country.
