Karachi: Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Thursday presided over the ground-breaking ceremony marking the demarcation and handing over of shop possessions at the Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal, according to a news source. He said that the construction work at the site would be completed at the earliest.

The mayor also emphasized that the Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal provides state-of-the-art facilities – better than those provisioned at the Shirin Jinnah Colony. He further said that the KMC (Karachi Municipal Corporation) was enforcing the orders of the Supreme Court; maintaining that no one would be treated unjustly and that the affectees’ rights would be safeguarded.

The mayor also stressed for the residents to be given alternative relocation sites prior to their eviction, stating that the construction costs of these shops would be covered in their rent.
He maintained that the allottees were required to submit their challans at the earliest for their applications to be considered. The mayor also affirmed that the work on project’s phase II location would be initiated soon.

As per other sources, the shopkeepers concerned were handed over their property possessions today (February 14); with all the requisite facilities for the parking of tankers having been provided.
