Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Project Director Iqrar Hussain shared that the construction work and at-grade infrastructural development on the Sheranwala Gate Flyover have almost been completed and will be opened to traffic completely by the end of this month, according to news published on August 15.

The project director mentioned that 99% of the work on the project has been completed and it will be formally inaugurated this month. He went on to say that currently, the authority is completing minor works at an expedited pace. According to details, 130,000 vehicles will use the flyover for the commute. The beneficiary areas in Lahore include Akbari Mandi, Walled City, Lunda Bazaar, Railway Station, Shadbagh, GT Road, Azam Cloth Market, Badami Bagh, Data Darbar area, Misri Shah, Azadi Chowk, Brandreth Road, and Shah Alam Market.

It is pertinent to note that the construction of the project was launched in June last year and was expected to be completed by March. However, the said project was delayed due to issues related to land acquisition in the tyre market. The major portion of overhead bridge was opened to public earlier in May.
