Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) recently ordered the authorities concerned to remove all illegal structures in Karachi’s East district, a news source reported. It further ordered the officials to recover the encroached land from the local land mafia.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan, heard a petition about illegal structures built along the Dhoraji and Ghani Salahuddin roads. The petitioner stated that the relevant departments had not implemented the court’s order with regard to encroachments in the city.
Meanwhile, East district anti-encroachment Director Zahid Bin Khalil submitted a report that indicated that the Jamalud Din Afghani Park in the areas was now clear of illegal structures. Khalil further stated that the officials concerned were following the SHC order on this front.

In response, the bench directed him to continue with the campaign. The justices also ordered the authorities concerned to carry out a safe and efficient drive in collaboration with the local police department.
Moreover, the bench gave orders to submit the revised master plan for the ‘Lines Area Redevelopment Project’ in the court during the next hearing.
