Sukkur: The Sindh High Court (SHC) On Tuesday ordered the recovery of 17,000 acres of illegally occupied forest land, as well as the suspension of water supply to encroached areas by the Irrigation Department, according to media reports.

While hearing a constitutional appeal on the recovery of forest lands from land grabbers, Justice Umar Sial and Justice Abdul Mobeen Lakho of the SHC Circuit bench ordered the Irrigation Department to suspend the delivery of water to the land grabbers.
Sarfraz Nizamani, one of the land grabbers, has stated that he has vacated the land. However, Qazi Abdul Jabbar, the Chief Conservator of Sindh, stated that Nizamani had only released 20 acres of land despite occupying 4,000 acres.

He also informed the SHC that 17,000 acres of forest land are now in use, while 250,000 acres had been abandoned. The court ordered the forest department to reclaim the property. The case has been adjourned until September 8, 2021.
