Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has imposed a ban on the installation of billboards on public properties including service lanes, greenbelts, sidewalks, nullahs, roads, bridges, walkways, and underpasses across the city, according to a news story published in the leading newspaper on October 12.

As per the details, a bench comprising two judges Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan observed that despite the ban by the apex court, hoardings were still spread throughout the city. The bench also asked the local and provincial authorities to submit the outcome of the meeting with the stakeholders related to the process of granting permissions for the installation of billboards on private properties.

The SHC has directed the authorities concerned to remove all billboards and hoardings from public spaces within 45 days. The apex court stated that no permission will be granted by any authority in the country to install billboards on any public property.
