Lahore: Shaukat Khanum Flyover is to be open for traffic by next week, according to news reports. This project is about to be completed at a cost of approximately PKR 903 million, and had been delayed due to financial constraints at various steps.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) moved the completion deadline a few times, and the import of flyover joints had been delayed due to unavoidable circumstances. Now, these joints have been imported and installed, so the project is almost complete, with the exception of sewerage works, which would take some time.
This PKR 903 million project was undertaken along with the expansion of Khayaban-e-Jinnah from Shaukat Khanum to Raiwind Road, a project costing PKR 460 million.
The construction of the flyover had been initiated in March and the expansion had begun in April, so the opening of these avenues for traffic has come as a sigh of relief for residents in the surrounding areas.
