Karachi: Sindh Secretary for Local Government (LG), Housing and Town Planning Engr Syed Najam Ahmad Shah urged authorities to beautify Shahrah-e-Faisal in accordance with the standards of other world-class metropolises, according to news published on November 04.

The official asked for the establishment of a joint authority for the beautification of the 16-kilometre-long highway that’s located within the boundaries of Karachi, streaking through the jurisdiction of multiple authorities and municipalities. Mr Shah stressed that an independent body should be tasked with the maintenance, cleanliness and revenue generation of Shahrah-e-Faisal. He highlighted that tax and revenue from the road artery should be exclusively used to develop it in accordance with all legal regulations to materialise the Sindh government’s vision of a brighter and cleaner Karachi.

Secretary Local Government Sindh stated that all concerned municipalities, local government institutes and authorities should discuss the issue and form a joint strategy to avoid any discrepancies in the future. Mr Shah urged for steps to be taken to improve the identity and image of Karachi in the eyes of domestic and foreign guests.
