Lahore: Alternate traffic routes for light and heavy vehicles passing through Shahkam Chowk have been made effective from Wednesday (June 16), news sources reported. Construction of Shahkam Chowk Flyover is scheduled to be completed in January 2022, but sources have revealed that the intersection will remain closed for traffic for the next 10 months.

Shahkam Chowk will remain shut for traffic heading from Defence Road, Bahria Town, Canal Road and Multan Road. According to the plan, following traffic routes have been opened for vehicles:
1. Traffic from Canal Road to Bahria Town will be redirected via Jubilee Town to Mohlanwal Road and all the way to Defence Road.
2. Traffic from Defence Road will be redirected to Bahria Town via Green Society Bridge.
3. Jallianwala Bridge on Rohi Nala Road leading to Bahria Town will remain closed
4. Heavy traffic will head to Sundar Road and Raiwind Road via Thokar Niaz Baig
