Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) recently announced its decision to initiate the construction of the Shahkam Flyover after the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, according to a news story published on May 4.
In this regard, the LDA has requested the traffic police to temporarily shut down the Canal Bank Road. Reportedly, the traffic police have already approved the LDA’s request to shut down the road facility for seven months.

In order to facilitate traffic during the construction period, an alternate traffic plan has already been finalised. As per the details available, three alternate routes have been finalised to facilitate commuters of Mohlanwal Road, Defence Road and Canal Bank Road.
As per the information available, the road linking Labour Colony on Defence Road with Shahkam Chowk will remain closed. In addition, the road linking Mohlanwal Road with Canal Bank Road will remain temporarily shut. Commuters heading from Bahria Town to Canal Band Road will also be required to use an alternate route.

As per the plan, vehicles heading from Raiwind Road via Defence Road will have to use the two overhead bridges in Jaliana, while Multan Road will act as an alternate route for Mohlanwal Road.
