Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday cleared Shah Allah Ditta caves of encroachments – a new source reported.
The CDA officials later handed over the retrieved land to the Evacuee Trust Property (EPTB). At least four illegally-built hotels were demolished during the anti-encroachment drive.

The CDA officials conducted the effort in collaboration with the ICT administration and security forces. Several ETPB officials were also present on the occasion.
Located in Margalla Hills, the historical Buddhist caves are believed to be 4,000 years old. The officials said they had discovered 2,400 years old murals of Buddha on the walls of the caves.

Moreover, the archaeology department has announced to start preservation work on the ancient site. It plans to utilize the endowment fund for this end. The department will also carry out restoration work on a historical pond.
