Islamabad: The federal government has appointed Syed Muhammad Shabbar Zaidi as Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue on an honorary basis for a period of two years, a news source reported. The appointment has been sanctioned with immediate effect.

The previous chairman, Jahanzeb Khan, was removed from his position only a few days ago.
Zaidi is a senior partner at A.F. Ferguson and Co, a leading accountancy and advisory company in Pakistan – and a Price Waterhouse Coopers member firm.
The new chairman also previously served as the provincial finance minister in the Sindh caretaker cabinet of 2013, as well as the president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and the chairman of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).

Furthermore, Zaidi is the author of several books including ‘Panama Leaks – A Blessing in Disguise’, ‘A Journey for Clarity,’ and ‘Pakistan: Not a Failed State.’
