Rawalpindi: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Thursday announced that a number of health infrastructure projects were expected to be developed in the city soon — a news source reported on September 11. The minister made these comments during the ground-breaking ceremony of a new block at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital – Raja Bazaar.

While talking to the media after the ceremony, Minster Ahmed revealed that funds worth PKR 800 million had been allocated for this project. He added that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar would also pay a visit to the city soon, and that a health emergency facility would be built in place of the old Naz Cinema building.

Additionally, the minister disclosed that the MC Islamia Girls School was expected to be made part of the DHQ Hospital — with the school to be replaced with a Paediatrics department. He further disclosed that work would also be initiated on the development of the Mother Child Hospital once the requisite funds worth PKR 6 billion had been allocated for the said project.
