ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday approved 17 uplift schemes worth PKR 18.8 billion, a news source reported.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Khusro Bakhtiar presided over a meeting to this effect in Islamabad. Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan, along with senior officials of the federal and provincial governments, also attended the session.
The projects approved by the party pertained to energy, transport and communication, science and technology, health, population planning, industries and commerce, food and agriculture, and education.

The participants also referred nine projects worth PKR 594.5 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.
The Ministry of Water Resources gave briefings on the revised compensation and land cost (from PKR 19 billion to PKR 36 billion) figures of the Dasu hydel power project.

The total cost of the proposed power project now amounts to PKR 510 billion. In response, CDWP referred the scheme to ECNEC for further consideration.
