Mardan: In a crackdown by the relevant authorities, seven illegal housing schemes have been sealed, reported a news source. The operation was carried out on the direct orders of Mardan Commissioner Mutahir Zaib Khan.

In addition to sealing seven housing schemes which were being operated without having a valid No-Objection Certificate (NOC), an official notice has been served to the developers of 40 such societies. According to sources, the concerned departments have identified a total of 53 illegal housing schemes in the division.

The commissioner warned people against investing in housing schemes that are operating without procuring an NOC. He also has a plan in place to make Mardan a cleaner, greener and more organised city. For this purpose, the city will be freed of encroachments and extra U-turns on roads.

In addition, the commissioner has also decided to stop sewerage water from being channeled into canals and streams. In order to ensure that the land along the railway track doesn’t become a dumping site, the commissioner has instructed his staff to set up small parks along the route.
