Rawalpindi: Punjab Forest Department has a new setup in place to plant 1 billion trees under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Clean and Green Initiative, reported a news source. A plantation drive for the project will formally kicked off on February 15.
To make this project successful, a new Chief Conservative Forest Extension Wing has also been formed. The wing will have its head office in Lahore and zonal offices in Rawalpindi and Multan. A total of 7,206 union councils and 28,824 villages will fall under the wing.
Furthermore, the divisional forest officers of Forest Department from all provinces will also assist the Chief Conservative Forest Extension Wing. In addition to that, employees of irrigation departments at provincial level will also serve their duties to make this project a success.
In Punjab alone, 350 million trees will be planted under the 1 billion tree project.
