Karachi: The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department (ETNCD), Sindh is considering setting up a separate Property Tax Division for housing societies located on Super Highway, a news source quoted Sindh Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla, who is also the provincial minister for Excise and Taxation.

By setting up this new tax division, the Sindh Government aims to bring more housing schemes into the tax net. The proposed tax division will focus on collecting property tax revenue from housing schemes located on Sohrab Goth onwards on Super Highway.

Some of the more prominent of these housing schemes on the Super Highway, as mentioned by Chawla, include Bahria Town, Ahsanabad, and Maymar Town. The minister shared this information while hosting a meeting in his office. Important officials from the ETNCD attended this meeting.

Chawla directed his staff to conduct and complete the survey of commercial, residential and industrial units located on the Super Highway on a priority basis. The survey results will help the department proceed with setting up the new tax division.
