Karachi: The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SPEA) on Thursday (September 9) ordered all the district officers and regional heads to conduct a survey of industrial units in residential areas across the province, according to news sources.

As per the details, the survey will be carried out in different districts of Karachi including Keamari, Malir, Central, Korani, South, West, and East. In addition to this, a survey was ordered for the industrial units in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, and Larkana. The authority ordered district and regional administrations to conduct a survey in districts that were known to have industrial units. It was reported that Kandhkot, Umerkot, and Tharparkar were not included in the survey.

According to the SEPA directives, the officials are required to form teams and submit comprehensive reports within 15 days. For conducting the survey, the officials will have to go door-to-door in the residential areas where illegal commercial and industrial activities are being conducted without proper safety precautions.
Additionally, the officers must check the letter of approval from relevant departments including Sindh Building Control Activity, department of industries, and district administration.
