Gwadar: The Senate Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs has recommended the launch of an internship program for the young citizens of Gwadar, according to a news source. The internships will involve training participants at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Port Qasim Authority (PQA).
Senator Kauda Babar presented the proposal in a meeting chaired by Senator Nuzhat Sadiq. Senators Moula Bux Chandio, Khushbakht Shujaat, Rana Mahmoodul Hassan, Muhammad Akram, Joint Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Shazia Rizvi, Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Chairman Dostain Khan Jamaldini, and other senior ministry officials, were also present.
This committee also discussed the budget allocation for the fiscal year 2018-2019; particularly for the first six months.
Jamaldini informed the committee that the establishment of a 330-MW coal power plant in Gwadar was being sponsored by the energy division, and comes under the aegis of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
The committee also discussed other projects and matters related to the development of Gwadar.
