The bill for the amendment to the CDA ordinance was introduced by Senator Fawzia Arshad with Senator Mohsin Aziz in the chair. The amendment sought to adopt a procedure that would prevent new projects and schemes from being approved until existing projects are completed.
According to the proposed amendment, such a method would allow grants to be issued only for projects that would be completed on time. The goal of the amendment, according to the bill’s sponsor, is to make it mandatory for the CDA and other executing agencies, including the federal government, to execute and implement development plans within a predetermined time frame in order to avoid a loss to the public exchequer.
