Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan is targeting 12.5 million families across the country for the issuance of Sehat Sahulat Insaf Cards, a news source quoted Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services (NHS) Dr Faisal Sultan as saying. The official shared this information while chairing the 23rd National Steering Committee Meeting session on Thursday (Aug 27).

As per the statement issued by the ministry, the NHS will soon launch the Sehat Sahulat Programme for the residents of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Terming it the ‘biggest’ social health protection initiative in the country’s history, Dr Sultan said that 8.4 million families across 90 districts currently have access to the health facilities offered under this programme.

He also revealed that the PM had given directives to provide ‘Universal Health Coverage’ for all permanent resident of AJ&K. According to him, the Sehat Saulat Insaf Card provides the same health benefits to people with special needs (and their registered families) and the members of the transgender community as those afforded to all other card holders.
