Islamabad: In collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), the city administration has begun shutting down a solid waste dumping site in Sector I-12, reported a news source.
For dumping waste permanently, the administration has identified a new site in Sangjani. Once this process is complete, the departments concerned will start a plantation drive to beautify Sector I-12; which previously served as a temporary landfill site.
The CDA had decided to relocate the site on the complaints submitted by Sector I-12’s residents with regard to the environmental hazards that it perpetuated. Moreover, the civic agency has released funds worth PKR 5 million to finalise the arrangements for the site’s relocation.
