Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday announced its intention to launch the development work in Sector I-15 soon – following the finalization of a suitable contractor for the purpose, a news source reported. The civic body has received as many as 42 expressions of interest (EOI) for contractor firms geared to take up the project.
CDA officials further revealed that these 42 firms, all of them registered under Category 1 or above with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) as per the authority’s specifications, had filed all the requisite papers – and will now be required to undergo a pre-qualification process (expected to be completed within a week; following which the tenders would be issued).

Further, a special committee has been tasked to review the applications submitted by these firms – and base their judgment on the contractors’ (individual) finances, equipment inventory, workforce, market reputation, and standing portfolio (of successfully executed developmental gigs).
Applicants with a solid market reputation and developmental experience, however, will be given priority to ensure that the sector’s construction work proceeds without any hurdles.

Sector I-15 was announced in 2005 – with 10,290 plot allotments – as a housing solution for the city’s low-income groups. But its development work had remained stalled, since.
