Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has requested the imposition of Section 5 of the Land Acquisition Act 1894 in order to acquire land for the construction of LDA City’s Chenab Road — a news source reported on January 18. Additionally, the LDA has also transferred approximately PKR 350 million to the DC Office for the acquisition of the said land.

According to the details available, the authorities had previously imposed Section 5 on 650 kanals of land — with 443 kanals of land yet to be acquired.

Reportedly, the LDA authorities had announced the project last year. As per the information available, Chenab Road will be 2.5-kilometre long, and 200-feet wide, and will connect LDA City with the Lahore Ring Road, Defence Road and Ferozepur Road. The LDA has already issued tenders for the construction of the road, while development work is expected to begin soon after the acquisition of the required land.
